DO I NEED A CONSULTATION?
A consultation is the essential first step in your desire to refine, restore or enhance your appearance. Our free consultations are for 15 minutes only. If you feel like you need more time, and/or want treatment same day, please let our office know so that we can allocate more time for you. MUST I UNDERGO PHOTOGRAPHS?
Photographs are an important part of your patient record and also serve as a reference throughout the course of your care. You will sign a specific consent for photographs that allows you to elect whether those photographs remain a fully private part of your patient record, or whether you will allow Liquid Beauty to use these for educational and marketing purposes. Your photographs are NEVER disclosed without your consent. We also retake your photos every 2-3 years to track your progress. Please keep makeup to a minimum so we can better evaluate your natural appearance.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR MY INJECTABLE VISIT?
- To Minimize Bruising: Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 2 weeks prior to treatment. (Don’t discontinue any medications without your prescribing physician’s approval). Do not drink alcohol for 3 days prior to your treatment. Take arnica pills orally 1 week prior & 1 week after your treatment. For the best results, we recommend medical strength arnica available for purchase at Liquid Beauty.
- To Minimize Risk of Infection: Your face should be clean and free of makeup. Area to be treated must be free of active cold sores, rash, or infection. If you have a history of cold sores, let us know beforehand so we can prescribe Valtrex to you.
- To Minimize Pain: Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment so you can have ample time to numb.
- Minimize Social Events: Schedule your treatment 2 weeks prior to social events just in case you bruise or swell.
WHAT CAN I DO TO BE MORE COMFORTABLE DURING MY INJECTABLE VISIT?
-
- To Minimize Pain: We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to allow for adequate numbing time. The lips are the most sensitive part on the face, but with numbing cream, most patients report they hardly feel pain, or they feel a slight prick. Neuromodulator (Botox, Dysport, Daxxify) treatments generally don’t require numbing cream.
- Pronox: To further alleviate your pain or anxiety, you may elect to utilize Pronox (for an additional fee) during your treatment for a more comfortable experience.
- Tip: Concentrate really hard on wiggling your toes while being injected or lightly tapping your leg during the treatment. This will distract your brain from noticing the discomfort and decrease your anxiety level because you are preoccupied.
- Anxiety: It is normal to feel anxious, especially if you are new to injections. Some patients like to play music or listen to a podcast during the treatment to help them relax.
- Infection Control: The treatment area will be cleansed and prepped prior to treatment. Please arrive with no makeup. Refrain from touching the treated area with unclean hands for 24 hours to avoid introducing bacteria into the injection sites.

WHAT ARE THE POST INJECTABLE TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS?
- No exercising, hot yoga, sauna, jacuzzi, or rubbing the injected areas for 24 hours.
- No facials or massages for 1-2 weeks to prevent migration of product.
- Keep the treatment area clean, do not touch with unclean hands to avoid introducing bacteria to the injection site.
- If you had your lips treated, no kissing or drinking out of a straw for 1-2 week to minimize migration issues.
- Swelling is normal, please allow 2-3 weeks for everything to settle. Ice 10 min. on/off for the first 24 hours to minimize bruising & swelling.
WHAT IS YOUR TOUCH UP POLICY?
- Asymmetry: On the rare occasion where a touch up for asymmetry is needed, it will be done at no charge, provided you wait at least a week AND the touch up appointment is within 3 weeks of receiving your treatment.
- Insufficient product: We do our best to determine the best dose for you, but if you end up needing more because your treatment didn’t achieve the desired result, you will need to purchase additional additional product.
BOTOX AND DYSPORT FAQ’S
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BOTOX OR DYSPORT TO KICK IN?
WHY DO I STILL HAVE WRINKLES AFTER BOTOX OR DYSPORT?
HOW LONG DOES IT BOTOX OR DYSPORT LAST?
MY BOTOX OR DYSPORT ALWAYS KICKS IN AT 3 DAYS. WHY HASN’T IT KICKED IN YET?
WHY CAN’T YOU ERASE ALL OF MY HORIZONTAL FOREHEAD LINES?
I DON’T WANT ALOT OF BOTOX OR DYSPORT. CAN I RECIEVE A CONSERVATIVE DOSE?
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME ASSOCIATED WITH BOTOX OR DYSPORT TREATMENT?
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BOTOX OR DYSPORT TO KICK IN?
Results usually take 3 days to 2 weeks to be take effect.
WHY DO I STILL HAVE WRINKLES AFTER BOTOX OR DYSPORT?
Botox will not erase deep etched in lines, it will only soften them, but it takes consistent treatment of Botox (every 4 months) for this to happen. Certain areas should not be treated with too much neuromodulator because the result will be unnatural.
HOW LONG DOES IT BOTOX OR DYSPORT LAST?
It typically will last about 3-4 months, depending on the individual. Factors that influence how long it lasts include amount of Botox used, history of Botox usage, and lifestyle factors.
MY BOTOX OR DYSPORT ALWAYS KICKS IN AT 3 DAYS. WHY HASN’T IT KICKED IN YET?
Results typically take 3-4 days to show up, but sometimes it can take a full 2 weeks. It can be different every time so don’t panic if you don’t see it kicking in as fast as it usually does for you! Please refrain from calling us until you have given it 2 weeks. By doing a touch up too early, you run the risk of over treating the area.
WHY CAN’T YOU ERASE ALL OF MY HORIZONTAL FOREHEAD LINES?
The #1 area that requires fine-tuning with neuromodulator is the forehead. Why? Because everyone’s forehead is different, and how sensitive your response to neuromodulators will determine the dose and placement. In general, we cannot inject in the area close to the brows because it will cause brow ptosis. That being said, there are people who can be injected very close to the brow and don’t experience any brow drooping. And there are others who despite being injecting higher up on the forehead, they still experience brow drooping. The forehead is a tricky area that requires artistry, a little bit of controlled experimentation, and your honest feedback so that we can learn what dosage and injection pattern works best for you.
I DON’T WANT ALOT OF BOTOX OR DYSPORT. CAN I RECIEVE A CONSERVATIVE DOSE?
Of course! However, please be aware that Botox and Dysport results are dose dependent. Baby doses will have a softening effect only, you will still have movement and lines, and the results won’t last as long. You will need a higher dose if you want a lifting effect and/or deep lines to disappear.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME ASSOCIATED WITH BOTOX OR DYSPORT TREATMENT?
It is normal to have redness and bumps on the treated areas right afterwards. Don’t worry, these will go away in 20 minutes. It is always possible to get bruising, but this is usually minimal.
FILLERS AND BIOSTIMULATORS FAQ’S
HOW LONG DO FILLERS LAST?
IS IT NORMAL TO FEEL BUMPS AFTER FILLER INJECTIONS?
WHY DID MY LIPS DEFLATE AND GO AWAY AFTER 2 WEEKS?
HOW MANY SYRINGES DO I NEED FOR A VISIBLE DIFFERENCE IN LIP SIZE?
CAN YOU CHANGE MY LIP SHAPE?
WHAT IS THE BEST TYPE OF FILLER FOR MY LIPS?
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE WAY MY FILLERS LOOK?
WHY ARE MY LIPS SO HUGE THE NEXT DAY?
HOW LONG DO FILLERS LAST?
It really depends on where it was injected, how much filler was injected, how long you have been getting fillers, and how fast your body breaks it down. In general, fillers are approve to last up to 1 year. We have seen it last several years. Areas with a lot of movement break down faster. If you have been doing fillers for years and therefore have a buildup of product, you will find that fillers last you longer. Your results will gradually diminish over time as your body breaks down the filler.
IS IT NORMAL TO FEEL BUMPS AFTER FILLER INJECTIONS?
It is normal to feel the filler right after injection. Sometimes patients will mistake feeling the filler as bumps. Be patient, the filler will settle with time and integrate into the tissue. Occasionally, a visible bump may appear. We advise you to press the bump firmly between two fingers to help it settle in. You may do this several times a day, The bump will usually resolve within 2-3 weeks. If it does not, please schedule a follow-up appointment so we can dissolve the bump with a medication.
WHY DID MY LIPS DEFLATE AND GO AWAY AFTER 2 WEEKS?
What you see right afterwards is product + swelling. What you see in 2 weeks is what was actually put in. The product did not “go away” fast, it’s just the swelling that went away.
HOW MANY SYRINGES DO I NEED FOR A VISIBLE DIFFERENCE IN LIP SIZE?
In general, 1 syringe is enough for lips to be a little plumper, but not enough to make lips noticeably larger in photos. This requires 2+ syringes. People with smaller lips may see a noticeable difference with a half syringe. Larger lips actually require more product in order to see a difference because there is more surface area to fill.
CAN YOU CHANGE MY LIP SHAPE?
We cannot change the lip shape much. Lips can be made bigger, and certain lip characteristics can be accentuated. But your lip shape is what you are born with, and we cannot make the lip skin move to give you a different shape. Most people have a natural asymmetry to their lips, we make the asymmetries appear better, but we cannot 100% make your lips perfectly symmetrical.
WHAT IS THE BEST TYPE OF FILLER FOR MY LIPS?
Your Liquid Beauty provider will listen to your concerns and explore what kind of lip enhancement you are looking for, and give you appropriate options to choose from. The fuller your lips are naturally, the more product you will need, and a more robust filler will be recommended to give you a more noticeable result. If you have thin lips, we will recommend a softer filler so that your lips look natural.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE WAY MY FILLERS LOOK?
Although it’s rare for a patient to not like their new look, it’s understandable when you begin to experiment with changing your appearance that you may decide fillers are not for you. Hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible, but we advise you to try to wait at least 2 weeks for the filler to settle.
WHY ARE MY LIPS SO HUGE THE NEXT DAY?
The lips swell the most the first few days. This is completely normal. It will normally be bigger
in the morning upon awakening because everything has pooled while you were laying down
all night long. After going about your day, the swelling will improve as gravity helps pull the
swelling down. The possibility of having an allergic reaction to Juvederm is very rare, but if
you are having difficulty breathing call 911 immediately.
